  A plant growth regulator found in plants implicated in many plant responses to abiotic stress.  
     
The abscisic acid is one of the five classes of plant hormone which helps to control overall growth and physiology.
It inhibits shoot growth. Closes stomata. Induces and maintains seed dormancy. It also regulates responses to environmental stresses such as drought, cold, salinity and heat.
