Acidophile (or acidophil, or acidophilous, or, as an adjectival form, acidophilic) is a general name for a group of organism that prefer to grows in acidic environment Among these organisms there are many plants (also referred as calciphobe plants) that strive in soil with a a low pH (below to 7) and that usually cannot tollerate calcite in the substratum.
