  In biology cloning is the process of creating an identical copy of a multi-cellular organism that is genetically identical to another living organism, by vegetative reproduction or a laboratory technique.  
     
Sometimes this can refer to "natural" clones made either when an organism reproduces asexually or when two genetically identical individuals are produced by accident (as with identical twins).

  In genetics,  cloning a gene consist in extracting a gene from one organism and introducing it into a second organism, where it can be utilized or studied.  
     
Cloning a gene may refer to success in identifying a gene associated with a particular phenotype.
