Ariocarpus

Tubercles with a finely warty surface with creme to yellowish wool in the groove and in the center of the rosette. Very beautiful and characteristic.

Ariocarpus fissuratus v. hintonii is a solitary geophyte cactus, rosette-shaped with triangular, rough, dark green verrucose tubercles. The flowers are pinkish-magenta up to 4 cm in diameter. It is an extremely slow growing species.

It blooms already at only 3-4 cm in diameter. Long, pointed and vertical tubercles. Yellow flower.

Most plants develop pointed tubercles with characteristic transverse streaks. Flowers white to pink. 5 years old seedlings.

Variety with greener, elongated tubercles and a firm lizard-skin-like texture. Short yellow spines emerge from large woolly areoles. Green in shade, it turns purple in full sun.

Smaller than the type, featuring smooth beak-shaped tubercles and pale mauve flowers frequently edged in white. A dainty compact form.
