Haageocereus versicolor is a shrubby cactus up to 1.5 m with stems branching from the base and golden spines. The flowers are white 8 to 10 cm across. It is native to Peru in the regions of Piura, Lambayeque and Tumbes at altitudes of up to 1500 meters.
