SPECIAL PLANT – Lithops hookeri, also known as the "living stone," is a true wonder of nature. This mimetic succulent has fleshy leaves that resemble stones, ranging in color from brown to gray with reddish veins. This unique appearance is an evolutionary adaptation to survive in arid, rocky environments by blending into the ground and avoiding predators. In autumn, it surprises with beautiful yellow or orange daisy-like flowers.
Cultivation:
Lithops hookeri thrives in a sunny location with well-draining soil, preferably sandy or mixed with perlite to prevent excess moisture. Water only when the soil is completely dry, significantly reducing watering in winter when the plant enters dormancy. Overwatering can cause root rot, so it is better to underwater than to overwater.
During its growth cycle, the plant replaces old leaves with new ones, so avoid watering until this renewal process is complete. Being adapted to hot climates, it tolerates direct sunlight well but should be protected from extreme cold. In regions with harsh winters, it is best to place it in a sheltered spot to prevent frost damage.
