A profusion of small fleshy flowers, in groups of 1–3, blooms in spring and summer. Corolla deep maroon, dotted or striped with yellow, becoming creamy toward the center. Stems bluish-green to greyish-green, deeply 4-angled with prominent fleshy conical teeth. Spreads by stolons.
