Description

This minuscule plant, with thin, rough-tubercled, cylindrical stems, looks nothing like the other species. It branches from an early age, around six months or so, and produces small but numerous dark purple-black flowers (corolla 6 mm in diameter) near the tops of the stems. The fruits (horns) are small yet plentiful, decorating nearly every shoot. It may be self-fertile.
