A striking globe-shaped cactus from northern Argentina, bearing spectacular funnel-shaped flowers in shades of purple to carmine red, often with yellowish tones in the throat. It produces distinctive yellow fruits—hence the name xanthocarpa, meaning “yellow-fruited.”
