Similar to Bowiea volubilis, Schizobasis intricata originates from southern and eastern Africa. It develops a green, partly exposed bulb up to 6 cm wide and sends up a thin, extensively branched climbing stem. Active growth occurs in summer, while it enters full dormancy in winter, needing cool and dry conditions during this rest phase.
