Thelocactus saussieri (not to be confused with Thelocactus lausseri) is a morphological form of the variable Thelocactus conothelos, distinguished by darker purplish flowers, fewer and shorter spines, and a flatter, less cylindrical growth habit than the typical species. It is one of the cacti known for early blooming.
